Mortgage rates in the area have remained in a range between 5.75% and 6.25% over the past few weeks. The trend lately has been upward. The 700 billion bailout bank deal is being finalized this weekend.
The Oconomowoc area enjoyed a perfect weather weekend. Saturday, sunshine and low 80s enveloped the area. Sunday was cooler with pockets of sunshine. September has been a terrific weather month.

Windy Weekend
Whitecaps rolled on Lac Labelle Sunday as strong west winds gusting over 35 knots pounded the shoreline off North Lake Road. A few brave souls fought the stormy seas windsurfing and pleasure boating but it was a bumpy ride. The Beach by the Band shell and Bender Beach and the South Side Beaches were oddly empty as high water and construction curtailed some swimming for area residents. It has been a strange summer so far.
The Farmers market at Shorehaven is starting to have more items like beets, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, broccoli and other vegetables and flowers. Stop by Saturday morning, support the local farmers and eat healthy.

No Wake On Lac LaBelle Lifted
The no wake has been lifted on Lac LaBelle. On a windless morning July 5th we saw a water skier and some wave runners enjoying the long Holiday weekend. The water level is still over the piers at the boat launch at City Beach but a skilled driver can launch a boat carefully at the ramp without submerging your car. The lake and beach are quieter than anyone can remember on a Holiday weekend due to downtown construction, flooding and the church explosion.

Oconomowoc Construction Moving Forward
The street improvements are taking shape around town. Riding my bike this morning I noticed curb and gutter was going in on West Wisconsin Ave or HWY 16. The boat landing at La Belle is still closed due to high water. The plugged in popcorn wagon remains in the water. Should someone unplug it? The street work is looking nice and many walkers and runners and bikers were doing the Fowler Lake walk and enjoying the fine weather after the recent 10 inches or so of rain.
